What are the best gyms in American Fork, Utah?

Let us be upfront about one thing
Boom is not in American Fork. Our two gyms are in Lehi (1657 N State St) and Pleasant Grove (564 W 700 S), which sit on either side of American Fork — realistically a five to ten minute drive from most of town, and closer than that from the east and west ends respectively.
We are telling you that at the top rather than burying it, because a list that pretends every gym is equally convenient is useless. If you want to walk to your gym, the American Fork options below are your list. If you are willing to drive the length of a podcast segment, the comparison gets wider.
How we compared them
Five things you can verify yourself on any gym's website or Google profile: is the training actually coached, is pricing published, is there 24-hour access, is childcare available, and is there a contract. Where a gym does not publish something, we say so rather than guessing.
| Gym | Where | Coached | Price published | 24/7 | Childcare | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VASA Fitness | American Fork | Classes + open floor | Yes, low base | Varies by club | Yes (KidCare) | Big-box amenities at a low monthly price |
| Elevated CrossFit | American Fork | Yes | Not published | No | Ask | CrossFit with a proper on-ramp |
| American Fork Fitness Center | American Fork | Classes + floor | Yes, city rates | No | Ask | City rec value, families, pool access |
| Fit Body Boot Camp | American Fork | Yes, group | Not published | No | Ask | Short, high-intensity group sessions |
| Boom Fitness Culture | Lehi & Pleasant Grove | Yes, every class | Yes · $119.99 | Yes | Yes, included | Coached strength & conditioning, families, odd-hours training |
Accurate as of September 2026. Several of these gyms do not put prices on their websites, which is common in coached training — you will need to call. If a gym will not give you a number over the phone, that is worth noting too.
Which American Fork gym is cheapest?
The American Fork Fitness Center on city rates, and VASA on base membership, are the low-cost options and neither is a bad answer. If your plan is "I know what I am doing, I just need equipment," paying for coaching you will not use is wasted money.
Where cheap stops being cheap is if you do not go. A $15 membership used twice is more expensive per session than a $120 one used sixteen times. We wrote about that math in what gym memberships actually cost in Utah County.
Which has childcare?
VASA offers KidCare, usually as an add-on. The city Fitness Center has family programming — check current hours with them directly. Boom includes kidcare with Unlimited during kidcare class times at both locations. Full detail on the coached options is in our childcare comparison.
Which is open 24 hours?
None of the American Fork options above advertise true 24/7 member access as of September 2026; VASA hours vary by club, so confirm with that location. Boom members get 24/7 door-code access at both gyms, which is the reason a lot of our members drive past a closer gym. More on that in 24-hour access with real coaching.
If you want coaching, here is the honest trade
American Fork is well served for open-floor training and has a solid CrossFit option. What it does not have, as far as we can find, is a gym combining coached classes, published pricing, 24/7 access and included childcare in one membership.
That combination is what Boom is built around, and it costs you a short drive. Whether that trade is worth it depends entirely on whether coaching is the thing standing between you and consistency. For a lot of people it is; for plenty of others it genuinely is not.
The cheapest way to find out is to not guess: your first week is free, every class, no card. Come three times and you will know.
Which location would you use?
From central and west American Fork, Lehi is usually the shorter drive. From the east side and Highland, Pleasant Grove is closer. The programming is identical at both — same weekly split, same coaching standard. We broke down the differences in Lehi versus Pleasant Grove.
